The Institute was founded in 1925 as a legal institution with the name of Victor Emmanuel III National Institute for the Study and Treatment of Cancer. The first units were opened in 1928. In 1969 was completed a piece for inpatient treatment, outpatient medical diagnostic imaging and therapy and in 1984 a second block for inpatient treatment and services.
